Monica Luz Lobo

Creative Director of LD Studio, Monica graduated as an architect and urban planner from Santa Ursula University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Monica has been working with architectural lighting since 1997, when she founded the firm. Her work is often featured in many local and international publications, and she has won a number of prizes at home and abroad.

Monica is one of the Founders of the Brazilian Association of Architectural Lighting Designers (AsBAI), professional member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), member of The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), and member of the committee of the Encuentro Iberoamericano of Lighting Designers (EILD).

Monica is committed to the development and dissemination of the profession of architectural lighting design, attending and lecturing at major Brazilian and international conferences, fairs and workshops. Since 2017 Monica has been elected to join the Board of Directors at IALD, and has become the first Certified Lighting Designer (CLD) of South America.
