Luciana Alanis

Lichtgold / Founder & Principal, Lighting Designer

Luciana Alanis is the founder and principal of Lichtgold, an independent lighting design consultancy based in St.Gallen, Switzerland.

She was born and raised in Argentina, lived and studied in Germany, where she graduated from the University of Art and Design Offenbach in Product Design and later from the University of Applied Sciences Wismar with the international Master’s degree in Architectural Lighting Design. In her 17 years of experience in lighting, she collaborated on a variety of projects, participated in light festivals and workshops, and never stopped to learn and gain more expertise. Therefore, she values the importance of giving back her knowledge and fascination as a lecturer, currently at the Architecture faculty at KIT – Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany.

Luciana is also very active in the lighting design community and engaged in different associations to spread the word about the importance of a healthy, sustainable and conscious use of light and the recognition of this inspiring profession. She is one of the IALD Regional Coordinators for the Alpine Chapter, part of the content advisory board for IALD Enlighten Europe Conference and the program committee for the Swiss Lighting Forum, and involved in a task force within the Deutsche Lichttechnische Gesellschaft Germany.

She finds a daily fascination for the power of light and its great impact on us. „It is magical how light and shadow shape our minds. Once you are aware of the light, it will never leave your thoughts again.“
