Entry Description

The lighting for this new building in Richmond, VA was inspired by the practice of outlining neighboring buildings with lines of LED neon. Our more ambitious goals for this project were transformative, as our lighting makes the building read entirely differently from day to night.
By day, the tower presents itself as a solid glass, curtainwalled building. In reality, thin structures that are extensions of this curtainwall reach beyond the building, forming a crown and vertical wing wall that our lighting render visible only at night. RGBW light strips, mounted on mullions at the roof and along custom shelves of the wing wall, make these elements glow. DMX controls allow color choices and animation.
The interior lighting is part of the night imagery composition. The consistent illumination of the offices creates a background that contrasts with the crown and wing wall.
The third-floor amenities terrace is situated off the dining complex. Paths are illuminated with bollards chosen for their simple design, shielding for glare reduction and efficient optics that allows us to minimize the number of fixtures used.
The lighting composition has become a signature feature on the skyline.
