Entry DescriptionA 1920s neoclassical building in Downtown LA had succumbed to blight, and the new property owners have endeavored to reinvigorate the building, creating an anchor destination for the neighborhood and traveling guests.
Lighting is cleverly integrated into the architecture; hardly any fixtures are visible, allowing undistracted enjoyment of the historic space. A custom double monopoint was detailed into the historic ceiling plaster work. Recessed accent lighting highlights task surfaces and artwork, and millwork lighting is integrated into grazing, backlighting and uplighting details.
Public areas are controlled via a dimming control system, programmed with daytime and evening scenes for seamless lighting transitions.
Hotel guestrooms utilize high efficacy dim to warm LEDs to ensure low energy use and reduce maintenance. The guestroom dimming system identifies guest arrival providing custom welcome scenes. To appease the traditionalists, all technology was concealed behind analog metal-engraved keypads which communicate with the control system.
As the building enters its second century of use history is sensitively preserved, ushering the building into a new era.
