Entry Description

Kim Kimchi is a Korean restaurant in Kyiv, Ukraine. Its interior concept is based on the urban jungle.
A luminous bamboo forest is integrated into the restaurant's space. With the help of this light installation, the interior mood can change along with the time of day, type of event, etc. We carefully worked out each of over 100 light groups according to the brightness percentage in conjunction with all other groups, similar to the nuanced setting of stage light. We set up separate light scenes for the morning, afternoon, and evening.
Luminaires were also made individually for this project.
The atmosphere of the restaurant's interior is easy to change during the day through the control panel, for which special software was developed. In the bamboo forest, you can reproduce the smooth transitions of colors and the lighting saturation for the entire space. Designing it, we settled on the colors of the Korean flag: white, blue, and red.
The lighting of all restaurant spaces is subject to the principles of biodynamics and changes according to the time of day and human activity: soft and calm in the morning, contrasting and saturated for parties.
