Entry Description

The Sovereign Resort is the premium gaming precinct at The Star Sydney. This project required a considered design approach in response to a shift in the expectation of luxury gaming. FPOV embraced the ‘light and bright’ and outward looking design scheme - a welcome contrast to the traditional approach to gaming. The final scheme draws strongly on our hospitality experience and provides mood and accent.
The most rewarding element is the 23 unique custom fittings. These range from simple and elegant rings in the restaurant, two gaming floors full of chandeliers, full crystal ceilings in the private salons and a 30m long installation of radial crystal tubes above the main bar. Drawing on the design language established by HBA, FPOV produced concepts, general arrangement drawings and attended prototyping reviews.
Key objectives of the lighting scheme included insuring that daylight ingress was balanced with vertical illumination, functional lighting was flexible whilst discreet and the decorative fittings were magnificent and memorable.
FPOV are incredibly proud of this project, as it heralds a positive shift to lighter, more considered, and enjoyable gaming projects.
