Entry Description

Comet 2020 is a design project to reinterpret a comet as a residential/commercial luminaire. Comets were long believed to be an anomalous celestial phenomenon since the ancient periods. They have fascinated people due to their elongated light and cyclical visits around the Earth.

Comet 2020's nucleus is embodied as a lighting source, and its tail is rendered as spiky wings to illustrate kinetic actions. Fibreglass is utilized for the fixture, and a LED bulb for the lighting source. Electro metallic painting is applied to its skin to reflect the icy nature of comets. The spiky wings can be detachable from the nucleus for easier handling and distribution.
