REFURBISHMENT OF THE HOTEL
The Hotel Adlon Kempinski is one of the most luxurious and well-known hotels in Germany. It is located in the Dorotheenstadt in Berlin's Mitte district on the boulevard Unter den Linden 77, not far from the Brandenburg Gate at Pariser Platz. The hotel was opened on August 23, 1997 and follows the tradition of the original Hotel Adlon, which opened in October 1907. The hotel burned down in 1945 and was later demolished except for one side wing.
The hotel's lobby and reception areas were extensively renovated in 2016 with an investment of 6 million euros. In the course of this renovation, the lighting of the rebuilt hotel was also completely updated. The aim of the new lighting design was to present the spatial hierarchies of the lobby and adjacent areas in light, thereby creating a visual calm and a clear spatial structure that allowed a generous overall spatial effect to be created.
In accordance with the surfaces and the colour concept for the lobby with warm gold and silver tones, a lighting in a warm light colour and excellent colour rendition was chosen to naturally emphasise the materials and colours of the interior.
