Entry Description

When the the Technical City Hall, was under construction, many people saw the unique opportunity to have the unloved administrative building removed from the city center. The total area of 7,000 m2 could thus be used to restore the old alleys and squares of the old city center, which was destroyed during the Second World War. The famous Royal Path of the German Kings and Emperors, would again be accessible.
The lighting analysis looked at the ambient brightness of the urban quarter, the light colors, the shape of the luminaires, as well as the brightness and light spot heights.
Based on this analysis, a master plan was developed in cooperation with the design advisory board. Important elements of the plan were the lighting design, the careful selection of the luminaire positions, and their integration into the historical and modern facades as well as the overall spatial effect.
The color rendering of the luminaires developed for the project accurately reflects the high-quality materials used in the architecture.

These efforts by the city administration, the architects, and the contractors were honored at the end of 2019 with the MIPIM Award.
