Entry Description

The New Taipei City Art Museum Outdoor Park sits on a 13-hectare riverside site where the Yingge and Dahan Creeks meet. Revitalizing the park and Sanying Art Village, it aims to be a “Museum for All,” connecting art with daily life.

The exterior lighting extends from the museum’s reed-inspired architecture, translating wind, water, and local ecology into light. Through a dialogue between light and nature, the design carries the museum’s artistic atmosphere outdoors, enriching the riverside landscape after dusk.

Four main zones shape the lighting narrative. In the Sanying Heart Art Zone, precise illumination highlights artworks like Embryo and Walking in Mud, revealing their forms while blending them into the nightscape. The Scenic Rest Area uses low-level indirect lighting, enhancing treetops and layering depth to focus attention on art. In the Five-Senses Interactive Zone, bionic reed lamps guide walkways, while dragonfly-pattern projections animate the ground with playfulness. The Dome Art Space transforms a translucent dome with pendant lights casting upward glows, creating a lively, artistic atmosphere day and night.

Across the park, lighting balances function and artistry, shaping safe, comfortable, and evocative spaces. It enhances visual experience while forging emotional connection—merging art, landscape, and community through light.
