Entry DescriptionInspired by traditional Japanese lanterns and Japandi aesthetics, ALVA is a collection of light fixtures that transforms light into a sensitive material and an architectural presence. Uniting the organic minimalism of Japan with Scandinavian functionality, each piece proposes a pause, a space for breathing within the everyday.
The ultra-thin aluminum structures support precisely stretched translucent fabrics, creating suspended forms that seem to float. Light spreads softly, filtered through delicate weaves, creating a welcoming, introspective, and silent atmosphere.
ALVA does not seek protagonism; it insinuates. It invites a calm gaze, a light touch, a contemplative presence. More than illuminating, its pieces reveal time, shadow, and emptiness as essential elements of dwelling.
Sustainability ApproachGuided by essentiality and permanence, ALVA incorporates sustainability both in the choice of materials and in the design philosophy.
Each lamp is produced using 100% recyclable aluminum and high-resistance technical fabrics from the textile industry, the same used in swimsuits, known for their durability and lightness. This combination reduces waste, extends the product's lifespan, and allows for the complete recycling of the pieces at the end of their cycle.
The project follows circular design principles, prioritizing components that can be reused or recycled without loss of quality. Local manufacturing and optimized processes reduce logistical impact and contribute to a smaller carbon footprint.
Using low-consumption LED technology, ALVA also promotes energy efficiency, offering high luminous performance.
Company DescriptionDSGNSELO is a Brazilian design studio and brand specializing in the development of original lighting fixtures that explore lighting as an aesthetic, material, and sensory language. More than products, we create experiences: light sculptures capable of transforming environments and provoking new ways of perceiving space.
Our studio is a space for research, experimentation, and collaboration. Here, production techniques, industrial processes, and artisanal knowledge meet aesthetic sensibility, history, and art.
