Entry DescriptionThe Cogwheel Desk Lamp explores the complex between mechanical solidity and light mobility. The cogwheel, as a prominent industrial element with a powerful and heavy appearance, enable smooth and continuous movement of the arms - surprisingly light compared to the strong appearance - and emphasize the balance between stability and operational simplicity.
The structure is based on a composition of sharp lines and precise geometry, where the movement mechanism is felt and used as an integral part of the design language. Functionality itself becomes an aesthetic element.
The Gear Table Lamp offers a fresh interpretation of functional design, where user experience merges seamlessly with a clean and precise design.
Sustainability ApproachThe inspiration for the cogwheel Desk lamp came from cogwheels that were disassembled from an old industrial machine and captured my eyes and my heart. The lamp I created combines these cogwheels, which were recycled and combined with new hand-carved elements. The gears give the lamp a natural, rough and industrial look, presence and weight, while defining the rhythm and movement of its arms. Each cogwheel not only serves as a design element, but also fulfills its original function, preserving its original movement and emphasizing the combination of form and function. By combining recycled parts with handcraft, the Cogwheel Desk Lamp demonstrates a sustainable design approach, giving new life to existing materials and creating a precise, functional and visually striking piece that bridges the gap between the past and modernity.
