Entry DescriptionThis lighting design takes a layered, immersive approach—drawing from foundational lighting design principles of ambient light, focal glow, and play of brilliance. The space celebrates Indian architectural heritage with jharokhas reimagined as “windows of the world,” brought to life using custom linear aluminium profiles in 2700 kelvin with CRI 95. These tactfully reveal the richness of the red palette while creating rhythm and depth across the space.
Glossy Indian black quartz tabletops are lit with 2200 kelvin light to enhance their reflectivity and surface shine, while the domed carpet ceiling is softly lit with 3000 kelvin to preserve its intricate patterns. A warm, cohesive ambiance is achieved through precisely calibrated layers of linear lighting. Track-mounted spots were used strategically for live music performances, ensuring adaptability and performance-grade output. Through carefully calibrated lighting and nuanced material interplay, the design weaves together tradition, innovation, and mood—mirroring the progressive cuisine it was designed to frame.
Sustainability ApproachSustainability guided every aspect of this lighting design—from materials to systems. Custom chandeliers were made using recycled aluminium and handblown glass, locally sourced within 100 km of the site. All fixtures use low-voltage, dimmable LEDs for energy efficiency and control. A daylight-integrated dimming system adjusts light levels based on natural light, reducing energy use without compromising ambiance. The modular fixture system allows easy replacement of components like drivers or LED chips, extending product life and minimizing waste. Designed for durability and reuse, the approach aligns with cradle-to-cradle principles.
