Entry DescriptionThe lamp design is inspired by the natural form of a boulder, translating this organic shape into a functional and visually appealing lighting solution. The main design challenge was to connect the support and lampshade in a stable and intuitive way while integrating the light source and wiring efficiently, without detracting from the overall aesthetics. This led to a composition where the conical forms of the support and shade interlock seamlessly, providing both a secure connection and a clean appearance. The support broadens towards the base, ensuring stability. The lamp’s simple, balanced design is suitable for both classic and modern interiors, with a harmonious relationship between the shade and support that enhances both function and visual coherence. A round GX53 LED lamp was selected as the light source, matching the lampshade’s proportions and ensuring efficient, even light distribution. This choice supports practical use and maintains the design’s visual integrity.
Sustainability ApproachThe lamp’s shade and support are produced via injection molding using recycled polycarbonate (R-Polycarbonate), a circular material chosen for its strength, thermal and dimensional stability. This enables precise manufacturing of complex shapes while supporting sustainability goals. R-Polycarbonate is fully recyclable, reducing environmental impact and aligning with the demand for sustainable product development. The lamp combines functionality and aesthetics with durability, aiming for a timeless design suitable for multiple generations. An energy-efficient GX53 LED lamp is used, ensuring effective light distribution without compromising the design’s visual quality.
Company DescriptionThe Design Lab, launched in 2021 with decades of experience, focuses on a wide range of design assignments, from furniture to lighting. Both traditional and digital techniques are used. Sustainable design is key: there is strong attention to new techniques, materials, ergonomics, ecology, and social and economic aspects. In dialogue with stakeholders, the process seeks the essence of each design, considering form, material, production, and user-friendliness.
