Entry Description

This project is a new timber processing plant for precut lumber, designed to represent the entire timber sequence through both architecture and light. The massive volume is divided into shifted masses, forming deep canopies, an open office, and a 100-meter viewing aisle. Encased in a random stripe timber shell, this aisle cantilevers from the factory wall, creating a floating effect that draws attention. The dynamic facade conveys speed, reflecting the company’s commitment to innovation and its vision for the future of timber craftsmanship.
Lighting was conceived as an extension of this identity. A continuous line of LEDs runs through the viewing aisle, symbolizing unbroken continuity and guiding visitors like a living exhibition. In the office and cafeteria, the same linear fixture adapts—grazing scissor trusses, highlighting timber details, or functioning as mirror and ceiling light. Warm 3000K tones emphasize communal areas, while 4000K supports efficiency.
At the entrance hall, timber scraps are upcycled into a wall relief, dramatized with concealed grazing light that transforms waste into expression. Exterior lighting remains restrained, relying only on light escaping through facade slits, ensuring harmony with the industrial context. Together, architecture and lighting present a new balance, where light itself becomes material of continuity and a vision for the future.
Sustainability Approach

Sustainability here emerges as both practice and narrative. The plant embodies the sequence of timber processing, its architecture celebrating precision while minimizing waste. Offcuts form a relief wall at the entrance, illuminated to symbolize renewal. The floating viewing aisle, wrapped in a timber shell, reflects continuity between tradition and future, expressing mindful use of resources.
Lighting reinforces this vision with simplicity and restraint. A single linear fixture appears across spaces, its adaptability extending lifecycle and reducing excess. Warm tones embrace communal areas, cooler tones support focus, while daylight fills the glass passage and uplighting softens reflections. Outside, light escapes only through facade slits, leaving the night sky undisturbed. Together, architecture and lighting weave an ethos of continuity, where sustainability is not measured but felt.
