Entry DescriptionThe British Residency stands as a silent witness to India’s first war of independence — a site where many lives were lost for freedom. The lighting serves as a reminder of India’s struggle, sensitizing citizens to its historical legacy.
Architecturally, the lighting reveals hierarchy. Each façade, arch, and column is curated through precision illumination, exposing layers of architectural depth and rhythm. Warm light tones complement sandstone and brick, reinforcing material authenticity and emotional warmth.
No glare. No light pollution. Every beam is precisely directed, ensuring the monument breathes under soft, respectful light.
Ambient light provides general legibility; accent lighting draws focus to domes, arches, and surviving structures — now transformed into dignified nighttime landmarks. Pathways and gardens are subtly lit with bollards and lanterns, retaining the heritage charm while ensuring safety.
A tricolour projection enriches the narrative — connecting national pride with collective memory, allowing visitors to reconnect with India’s resilient spirit through the medium of light
