Entry DescriptionAt Kawayan Eco Park, lighting was not conceived as a layer to be added, but as an element embedded into the architectural narrative of the bamboo pavilion and its landscape. Each lighting decision stemmed from a careful study of the structure’s form, materiality, and rhythm. From the clustered bamboo columns to the sweeping thatched roof, every facet was considered to reveal its essence without overpowering it. Warm uplighting at the base of the columns emphasizes vertical cadence—establishing a visual rhythm legible from both near and far. Soft grazing from discreet ceiling fixtures reveals the handcrafted roof's texture while preserving shadow and depth. Along the bridge, recessed floor lights and concealed grazers trace the path and canopy in a warm gradient, mirrored in the water to poetic effect. Rather than flatten or distract, lighting supports legibility—articulating structure, guiding movement, and amplifying material honesty. Viewed as a whole, it binds the composition—sculpting the pavilion’s geometry at night and allowing it to breathe in its setting. Here, light is not spectacle; it is atmosphere. It reveals, respects, and refines—bringing the architecture into focus through quiet precision.
Sustainability ApproachThe lighting strategy for Kawayan Eco Park was guided by perceptual efficiency rather than sheer intensity—prioritizing how people feel and interpret space through light. By emphasizing vertical elements such as the bamboo columns and subtly grazing the thatched roof, we created a sense of brightness using minimal energy. Each lighting point was deliberately placed to support rhythm, hierarchy, and atmosphere, avoiding unnecessary general illumination and reducing fixture count. All luminaires are low-wattage, high-efficacy LEDs with integrated dimming capabilities, allowing adaptive control based on ambient light and usage, further optimizing energy consumption. Fixtures were selected with circularity in mind—modular, serviceable designs with replaceable LED engines and drivers to extend product life and reduce waste.
Company DescriptionVIM Lighting Solutions is a lighting design studio and solutions partner that places visual experience at the core of every project. We approach lighting not as a commodity, but as a discipline rooted in perception—where the interplay of light and shadow defines how spaces are felt, understood, and valued.
Founded on the belief that design should lead, VIM works alongside architects, interior designers, and visionaries to craft lighting strategies that elevate form, function, and atmosphere.
