Entry DescriptionA celebration of raising over $1.85 billion Boston University held a ceremony complete with ice skating, aerialist, singers, historians, celebrities, and with added flair the Boston Pops to orchestrate the entire evening. This was an integrated lighting production fully emerged with video projections. With well over 500 lighting units, the celebration was an experience never to be forgotten. Utilizing wireless control, scenic units rolled across the subzero floor with full color changing ability, linear tilt/zoom controlled units lined the perimeter of the ice rink and were used to illuminate the skaters while video projections mapped across the entirety of the icy floor, and a mix of profile and wash moving lights helped enhance the atmosphere, energize the audience, front light the stage, and add texture throughout the space. In addition, the design was enhanced with an array of lighting tubes creating a background of visual interest behind the Boston Pops orchestra; feeding color, shape, and intensity through an illuminated background of pixel mapping tubes. A diverse design of multiple sources unified to create a vivid, colorful theatrical display of BU's successful campaign.
