Entry DescriptionMonir draws its inspiration from the serene beauty of moonlight suspended between the night sky and the earth. The dome represents the expansive sky, the dark base echoes the grounding presence of the earth, and the semi-transparent upper section reflects the moon’s gentle radiance. This visual and emotional metaphor guided the lamp’s form—stripped of all unnecessary details, leaving only pure function and sculptural presence. The design focuses on a seamless, intuitive interaction: a simple tap to light up, and a smooth rotation to adjust brightness across three levels. The goal was to create a lighting object that feels poetic yet practical—equally at home on a desk, enhancing focus and clarity, or in a living space, enriching the atmosphere. Monir transforms a daily function into a tactile and emotional experience, embodying both simplicity and depth.
Sustainability ApproachMonir is built with sustainability as a core design principle. The base and upper dome are crafted from 100% recycled aluminum, offering both durability and a reduced environmental footprint. The diffuser is made from bio-based polycarbonate, a renewable alternative to petroleum-based plastics, ensuring full recyclability at the product’s end of life. Its cordless, USB-rechargeable design eliminates the need for disposable batteries, reducing waste and energy consumption. All components are designed for easy disassembly, enabling straightforward repairs or material recycling. By merging eco-conscious materials with a timeless, minimal form, Monir ensures longevity in both function and aesthetic—promoting a circular, low-impact approach to lighting design.
