Entry DescriptionBrise is a task lamp designed specifically for trestle tables in cultural spaces, such as art studios and community centers, where creative activities like drawing and painting take place. When deployed, Brise provides focused illumination with visual comfort, supporting manual tasks without overwhelming the environment. Its adaptable structure integrates folding joints and rotating mechanisms, allowing the lamp to collapse neatly for compact storage beneath the tabletop.
Mounted through an adjustable clamp compatible with surfaces up to 45 mm thick, Brise ensures a secure fit while facilitating effortless assembly and disassembly. The design draws inspiration from the helical descent of brazilian Cedro Rosa tree’s winged seeds, incorporating biomimetic principles to enhance portability, fluidity, and intuitive operation. Wire-free functionality, enabled by a rechargeable battery with over six hours of autonomy, combined with a dimmable high-luminance LED, makes Brise both efficient and user-friendly. Collaborative development with local suppliers optimized aluminum bending, stamping, and welding processes, minimizing material waste while ensuring durability and ease of production.
Sustainability ApproachBrise embodies sustainability through multifunctionality and responsible material selection, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). Operating wire-free with a rechargeable battery and energy-efficient LED, it minimizes reliance on non-renewable energy. Made from recyclable aluminum - chosen for its lightness, strength, and durability - Brise supports circular economy principles. Its modular, foldable design enables easy disassembly and compact storage, optimizing logistics and reducing material waste and emissions. Manufacturing refinements further minimized scraps through efficient aluminum forming. By ensuring extended lifespan, repairability, and reduced environmental impact, Brise exemplifies sustainable design in lighting.
