Project Rebottle: Waves of Change & Hypnotic Chandelier
Project Rebottle is a sustainable lighting initiative transforming plastic waste into immersive light art. Addressing the urgent issue of ocean plastic pollution, we collect, store, and reuse plastic bottles to craft large-scale installations.
The Hypnotic Chandelier (2022) featured a telescopic structure with PVC pipes and LED strips controlled by Arduino, exhibited at three festivals to demonstrate reusability in light design.
Waves of Change (2024) evolved the project into a public, interactive neon installation, spelling "Change" with flexible neon LEDs woven through suspended bottles. The dynamic visuals shifted with viewer movement, empowering community participation through workshops where people added their own bottles.
By prioritizing recycled materials, modular design, and public interaction, Project Rebottle redefines how light installations can drive environmental and social change.
Sustainability Approach

Project Rebottle embraces a circular design approach by continuously collecting, reusing, and repurposing plastic bottles across multiple light installations. Materials are diverted from waste streams and given new life in public artworks, significantly reducing environmental impact.
Both installations, Hypnotic Chandelier and Waves of Change, use low energy LED technology to minimize energy consumption. Structures are modular and designed for easy refitting, allowing reuse without producing new waste.
Workshops encourage community recycling, amplifying awareness and participation. By prioritizing recycled materials, energy efficiency, and reuse, the project cuts carbon footprints and promotes sustainable light art practices.
