Entry DescriptionTesser is a sculptural lighting collection that redefines how we experience light in urban spaces. Inspired by fleeting glimpses of illuminated lives through New York City’s skyscrapers, Tesser transforms light into a spatial and emotional experience. Each lamp plays with perception, creating a dynamic interplay between presence and absence, form and illumination.
What sets Tesser apart is its precision-engineered proportions, guided by the Fibonacci sequence, ensuring a sense of harmony and balance. The collection leverages advanced 3D printing technology, turning recycled ocean plastic into finely crafted, heirloom-quality objects—challenging perceptions of plastic as disposable.
Tesser is a study in contrast—the rigid grid of a city softened by the warmth of light, vast urban spaces distilled into intimate moments.
Sustainability ApproachTesser is a paradigm shift in lighting design, merging sustainability, material innovation, and poetic storytelling. At its core, Tesser challenges two major issues: the ephemerality of design in a throwaway culture and the environmental impact of plastic waste. While conventional lighting fixtures rely on virgin materials, Tesser reclaims ocean plastic and transforms it into an heirloom-quality objects through precision-engineered 3D printing technology. This process elevates plastic from a pollutant to a material of artistry and permanence. Tesser also redefines sustainability in the lighting industry by demonstrating that circular design doesn’t require aesthetic compromise. It introduces new possibilities with multi-
material 3D printing, advancing the category beyond energy efficiency into a new era of experiential design.
