Entry Description

Phyto gracefully marries the essence of a desk or accent lamp with the elegance of a precious glass vase. It is an object that not only illuminates but also highlights natural beauty, serving as a stage for presentation.

The name, derived from the Greek word "phyton", meaning "plant," already hints at this unique function.

Designed with love in Italy, the lamp is composed of three main components: The base, crafted from post-consumer recycled plastic, houses the LED light source. The main body, translucent with a frosted finish, illuminates and enhances the upper crown element. This crown, the actual vase, is made from 3D printed glass. Every single layer of glass reflects the light individually, creating visual structure and a special sparkle.

The modular assembly allows for various crown elements to be designed and inserted in the future. The first version, as shown here, has a diameter of 220mm and a height of 285mm.
Sustainability Approach

Sustainability is an important aspect in the development of this concept, reflected in both energy consumption and material selection.

The base, made from post-consumer recycled plastic, houses a replaceable LED light source.

The main body and crown, fabricated from recycled glass, exhibit a refined elegance. Despite the nascent stage of 3D glass printing, this innovative process has already been proven to work with recycled glass.
