Entry Description
Spora is a handcrafted stoneware ceramic lamp, inspired by the organic form of a spore that opens and releases life. Its design blends formal simplicity with detailed craftsmanship, making each piece unique. Light bounces off the glazed ceramic from within, creating a soft, indirect glow that transforms the atmosphere and enhances the materiality.
More than a functional object, Spora offers a sensorial and poetic experience. It bridges contemporary design with traditional ceramic craft, celebrating the handmade, the durable, and the imperfect. Its presence is quiet yet powerful, conceived to inhabit spaces with warmth, character, and timeless aesthetics.
Sustainability ApproachSpora approaches sustainability through small-scale artisanal production and the use of natural, durable materials. Each lamp is made of high-fired stoneware, a resilient and timeless material that requires no replacement and resists obsolescence.
By avoiding mass production and embracing manual processes, Spora minimizes waste and excessive consumption. The pieces are produced locally in Chile, reducing the transportation footprint and supporting fair labor practices.
It incorporates low-energy LED lighting, and the entire object is conceived to endure, not to follow fleeting trends. The design includes an inner acrylic tube that holds the shade and a second lightweight tube that supports the bulb, both chosen for their lightness, durability, and ease of handling.
