Entry DescriptionCerro del Molinete, in the heart of Cartagena, is one of the city’s most important archaeological and natural sites. From its summit, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the city and its historic port, while walking among remains that span over two millennia of history — from Carthaginian and Roman times to the medieval period.
The new lighting project transforms the hill into a safe, attractive, and immersive space. Warm, carefully designed lighting highlights the different historical layers, guiding visitors through the site’s evolution across the centuries. During guided tours, lighting scenes can even be adjusted in real time, creating an interactive experience that brings history to life.
This intervention enhances both safety and heritage value, while respecting the environment and the site’s cultural protection status. With minimal visual impact and technology adapted to contemporary needs, Cerro del Molinete is now also a nighttime landmark, offering a unique way to discover Cartagena’s past under a new light.
Sustainability ApproachThe total installed lighting power is 3,924 W for an area of 26,000 m².
