Entry DescriptionAranya North Shore Divine Sound Auditorium boasts notable highlights, with its lighting design taking center stage. Conceptually, as a "sound-centric space" rooted in its "Divine Sound" identity, it embraces the challenge of translating intangible "Divine Sound" essence into tangible structural expressions—an idea that the lighting design further amplifies to convey a sense of fluidity. Its architectural design is distinctive: a minimalist exterior contrasts with an intricate interior, and the unique layout of multiple air-permeable sections stands out as a key structural foundation for the lighting concept.
The lighting design ingeniously leverages sound propagation principles linked to "Divine Sound" to shape light paths, incorporating techniques such as light guiding, light concealment, light penetration, and light floating effect creation. Adding to this, the auditorium’s roof features a semi-transparent, liftable canopy with dual functions: it acts as an environmental regulator while serving as a floating landmark. When illuminated at night, the canopy glows as a striking visual focal point—masterfully integrating "Divine Sound", light, the auditorium itself, and the surrounding environment into a cohesive sensory experience.
Sustainability Approach1.Energy Efficiency & Natural Light: Adopts day-night adaptive lighting—prioritizes natural light daytime, switches to artificial nighttime. Cuts artificial energy reliance, reduces carbon emissions, boosts adaptability. Light diffuses evenly via multiple reflections (avoids harsh contrasts), eliminating high-power lamps to lower energy use.
2.Resource-Efficient Selection: To balance design effect & cost control (key for sustainable resources), team selected cost-effective materials/lamps post-optimization. Avoids excessive waste, ensures long-term usability, echoing circular economy’s "resource efficiency".
3.Structural Integration (Cut Retrofitting): Lamps hidden in building structure (e.g., concealed lighting in meditation space side room, fixtures in roof performance area canopy). Eliminates extra retrofitting for installation, reducing modification waste & environmental impact.
