Entry DescriptionZhi Yun Teppanyaki is a new teppanyaki brand by the Feastogether Corporation, where lighting design is deeply integrated with the brand's core philosophy to create an exceptional dining experience.
“Zhi Yun”, meaning “Aged through time, essence refined,” is a teppanyaki dining space nestled high above the city. Rooted in Eastern philosophy and tranquility, the brand blends contemporary aesthetics to craft a sensory journey rich in ritual. From the moment the elevator doors open, every detail—from music, scent, utensils, and uniforms to the interplay of light and shadow—unfolds to shape the rhythm of the space. Lighting plays a pivotal role in this experience, guided by the design concept: “Flavors of time, slowly brewed and illuminated.” It leads guests into an immersive narrative where taste and time intertwine through light.
Lighting is the most expressive language of sensory experience. Anchored in the brand’s core, we collaborated closely with the marketing team to co-create a lighting narrative guided by the concept “Aged through time, essence refined.”
Light becomes more than illumination—it weaves together rhythm, atmosphere, and emotional memory. It allows the brand to be seen and felt, serving as the most vital force in this immersive design journey.
Sustainability ApproachThe lighting system can be adjusted according to changes in natural daylight, operating in two distinct modes: daytime and nighttime.
During the day, lighting near the windows can be partially turned off to conserve energy. At night, the overall ambient lighting is dimmed, allowing diners to better appreciate the panoramic cityscape offered by the high-altitude restaurant setting.
In the dining area, fixed downlight track fixtures are used to shorten the distance between the light source and the table surface. This setup enables precise light control and glare reduction, enhancing visual comfort while minimizing fixture size and power consumption. The overall lighting power density (LPD) is maintained at 11.3 W/m², achieving a thoughtful balance between atmospheric design and sustainable energy efficiency.
