Entry DescriptionAlila Shanghai is a contemporary luxury sanctuary in the heart of the city, designed as an “Urban Utopia”—a tranquil retreat in the Jing’an District. The lighting design plays a key role in creating this hidden oasis, enhancing spatial depth and offering guests a serene experience. At night, carefully calibrated lighting accentuates architectural forms, highlights focal points, and fosters a relaxed ambiance. A layered approach balances aesthetics with energy efficiency, using indirect washes, accent lighting, and focal illumination to create warmth and tranquility.
Subtle lighting enhances the arrival sequence, with warm cove lighting reinforcing brand identity. The lobby features a media screen with projections, adding mystery before guests ascend to level four, where a lush garden view offers an immediate sense of retreat.
In guestrooms, concealed linear lighting and custom fixtures ensure comfort and relaxation giving a residential feel. Public areas surround a reflective pool and garden view, offering a secluded feel despite the hotel’s central location. Dining areas are defined by warm light, while accent lighting highlights design elements. The bar, with fantastic views of Shanghai’s skyline, blends soft lighting to enhance depth and exclusivity.
Sustainability ApproachHigh-efficiency LEDs, intelligent controls, and daylight integration optimize energy use. Sensor-based dimming and automated scene-setting enhance user experience while reducing consumption. Carefully selected fixtures ensure longevity and minimal maintenance, aligning with Alila’s commitment to sustainability
