Entry DescriptionLugu Lake Lanyue Hotel is located on the shores of Lugu Lake. With the core philosophy of "Striving for Quality, Not Greedy for Brightness", it adopts restrained lighting design to make the building an invisible bridge connecting travelers with the local nature and culture, achieving in-depth integration of nature, space and travel experience, and preserving the original essence of Lugu Lake.
Inspired by Lugu Lake’s soft moon, mist, campfires, and primitive life imprints, the project addresses traditional hotels’ excessive lighting that disrupts lake tranquility and immersion. It aims to make light a guide for perceiving the environment and settling minds, balancing "enough" and "excess".
No rooftop lights—focus below and indoors. Wood textures soften in light; tops blend into night, no harsh glare. Public areas: Lugu Lake moonlight or campfire glows. Drop-offs: "node lights" guide. Indoor warm light controls brightness for enclosure. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring lake, mountains, stars as "background light"; indoor softness meets natural night. Light, shadow, water, wind—total immersion. light fades into the background, allowing the natural atmosphere and humanistic stories of Lugu Lake to flow naturally, thus forming a "light as a foil, nature as the core" design closed loop.
