Entry DescriptionThe AIA Grand Theatre, situated in Shanghai Hongkou’s North Bund area — known as the "Oriental Broadway" — enjoys an exceptional location adjacent to the Huangpu River. As a contemporary cultural venue designed to meet modern demands, it combines multiple functions, including entertainment, art appreciation, cultural retail, exhibitions, and educational programs. Beyond offering high-quality theatrical performances, the theatre connects the city and invites audiences to savor leisure time beyond the performances. Inspired by the design concept of a "shimmering, translucent jewelry box," visitors experience a sense of discovery as they gradually reveal the treasures within upon stepping inside. The theatre comprises three above-ground levels and two basement levels, with the main entrance located on the ground floor. The lobby, themed around "The Growth Imprint of a Shell," features triple-height striated decorative surfaces that emulate the organic patterns of a shell's exterior. Integrated lighting creates a soft pearlescent glow. The auditorium serves as the theatre’s striking centerpiece. When audiences step inside, it evokes the experience of gradually unveiling treasures within a jewelry box.
