Entry DescriptionIn a home shaped by carved voids and layered courtyards, light becomes the architecture’s most fluid material. By day, openings and vertical gardens harvest Jakarta’s shifting daylight, drawing it deep into the plan. By night, the lighting design reinterprets this openness-transforming voids into glowing lanterns, stone walls into textured canvases, and circulation paths into ribbons of quiet guidance.
Warm 3000K tones wash teak ceilings and travertine floors, revealing their grain and depth. Concealed grazers animate the volcanic andesite and lava stone, their shadows echoing the tactility of Mount Merapi’s terrain. In the central volume, cove lighting creates a sense of levitation between floors, while the kitchen void becomes a luminous well, its sculptural downlights mirroring the verticality of the space.
Balconies and patios are edged with discreet linear light, preserving the night sky while extending the living experience outward. The result is a choreography of natural and artificial light-responsive, intimate, and deeply tied to materiality, where illumination is not an afterthought, but the emotional language that binds architecture, landscape, and life.
Sustainability ApproachThe lighting strategy embraces sustainability through high-efficiency LED systems with over 90% lumen maintenance, reducing energy demand by 65% compared to conventional sources. Fixtures are modular and refittable, extending lifecycle and minimizing waste. Daylight integration via courtyards and voids reduces artificial lighting use by up to 10 hours daily. Materials are locally sourced, and finishes enhance reflectance to maximize light output with lower wattage. This approach lowers carbon footprint while ensuring enduring visual and environmental quality. Most of the light products are repairable and serviceable on the main component light led chip and power supply to ensure less material waste.
Company DescriptionERRELUCE is committed to the idea of collaboration throughout the entirety of the design process. We place the highest possible emphasis upon input from all parties, from client to the architect or interior designer, our work is driven with a strong emphasis on research and analysis. We believe that by understanding the basic concept of the spaces, materials, and objects, we can create lighting solutions that give way to new forms of expression and interaction that are the balance between emotion and quality in architecture + interior.
