Entry DescriptionThe expanded Nikon store in Shanghai merges precision optics with spatial narrative. Light not only illuminates but defines and enhances the brand journey, echoing the engineering of Nikon lenses.
On Huaihai and Changle Roads, the façade glows with luminous frames, with customised spotlights preventing glare and ensuring crisp, true-to-life displays. Inside, a ceiling inspired by a lens aperture uses a Barrisol stretch membrane lit from above, creating a diffuse photographic glow. Illumination is calibrated: 2500 lux at displays, 500 lux in circulation, a 5:1 contrast ratio establishing hierarchy. Tripod-inspired furniture integrates concealed linear lighting for seamless presentation.
The second floor forms modular “islands,” lit by Barrisol ceilings (2500–3000 lux), 3500K recessed spotlights, 60°/120° linear lights, narrow-beam concealed fixtures, and polarised washes. A central camera-aperture display is unified with curved coves and 15° spotlights, ensuring shadow-free focus.
On the third floor, the stretch ceiling and light boxes are tunable (2700K–6500K), while all other fixtures operate on ON/OFF control. This layered arrangement of diffuse and focused lighting supports both collaborative sessions and precision demonstrations.
Here, lighting is a narrative tool — guiding the eye, balancing drama with comfort, and presenting products in true-to-life colour.
