Entry Description

Catholic church of St.Nicholas in Kyiv - a legacy preserved in the city center over a century ago. Until recently, a beautiful monument of architecture at night stood a dark unlit silhouette.
The project has a social basis. Its implementation was made possible thanks to several patron companies - lighting of the Church became a gift to the townspeople.
The task is complicated by the inviolability of the historical facade and we were required to search for a non-standard solution. We have developed specific equipment - very powerful and with extremely narrow two-degree optics. Also, to achieve the shape of light spots, we used the thinnest nano-lenses, which draw round spots of light into ellipses.
In our case, a different solution is not feasible: it is impossible to place additional structures on the historical facade, so we illuminate it from the opposite side of the street from neighboring buildings at a distance of about 100m. Usually, such an architecture is illuminated by a gliding light that creates characteristic shadows. Lighting it differently we calculated light spots of different diameters, covering the facade fragmentarily and thus giving relief to the facade.
