Entry Description

This vibrant workplace features a conceptual design narrative inspired by the UAE’s rich and varied landscapes. Integrated lighting complements the colour-driven design story, enhancing the materiality and playfulness of each zone, while managing the flow between the different areas.

Subtly illuminated surfaces draw out the interior narrative in the reception where light was embedded within the vertical surfaces to reveal the organic depth of a palette inspired by mangroves. This focus on indirect lighting reduces reflections on the mirrored ceiling, leaving space for the decorative luminaires to form patterns on light.

Beyond the reception lies a series of meeting rooms, informal work areas and phone booths defined by graphic expressions of light. These energizing lines extend into the circulation spaces, smoothing the connections between the different zones.

The lighting aesthetic shifts in the blue zone to soften the mood. Rectilinear light fittings were integrated within a wave-like acoustic ceiling, producing a soothing interplay of light and sound above the work areas.

Strategically placed layers of light elevate the visual aesthetic in the townhall, where soft cove lighting and integrated illuminated step details play an important role in highlighting the sculptural form of a floating bronze and glass staircase.

Sustainability Approach

The team used high-quality LED luminaires to reduce energy consumption and employed a high-quality control system with a range of scenes to allow light levels to be appropriately balanced and dimmed according to the time of day and occupancy levels.
