Entry Description

The HERBIS OSAKA Workers Lounge is a shared lounge exclusively for office workers, located within a luxurious mixed-use complex that includes HERBIS Plaza, The Ritz-Carlton Osaka, as well as halls and offices. The design aims to create a high-end atmosphere with sophisticated lighting that complements the luxury of the space.

The interior design, inspired by the moon in the HERBIS OSAKA logo, evokes a mystical atmosphere reminiscent of space, with a black color scheme creating an ethereal environment. To enhance the space’s unique world view, the lighting design incorporates a balance of light and shadow.
The main lounge features custom circular lighting, inspired by the "moon," enveloping the space in a soft, moonlit glow. Downlights integrated into the black ceiling emit narrow beams of light, focusing only on the tables, creating a three-dimensional lighting effect through contrasts of light and shadow. The workspaces are illuminated by pendant lights that evoke the "stars in the night sky" and lighting that washes over stone walls, reminiscent of the "moon’s surface." These lighting elements enhance brightness and luminance, creating an ideal lighting environment for work.

By establishing a consistent overall world view while generating high-quality lighting tailored to each zone, the space has become a lighting environment that enhances the overall value of the facility.
Sustainability Approach

This project creates a space that diverges from a typical workspace, designed using only the necessary lighting to enhance both practicality and the overall atmosphere.

All lighting fixtures, including both technical and decorative lighting, utilize LED technology. By incorporating a dimming control system, the lighting levels are delicately adjusted, reducing power consumption while enhancing the desired atmosphere. This results in optimized energy consumption and the creation of a refined lighting environment.

With floor-level illumination kept below 100 lux, the HERBIS OSAKA Workers’ Lounge presents a new approach to workspaces—one that introduces a new value of light in response to modern work styles.
