Entry DescriptionThe studio of renowned Brazilian landscape architect Alex Hanazaki, spread across three floors and a rooftop, is a true oasis in the heart of São Paulo. In this project, lighting transcends its functional role of illumination: it composes, dramatizes, and amplifies both architectural and landscape expression, weaving a visual narrative that transforms every space into an experience. The helical staircase and indoor garden take center stage under a meticulously designed lighting scheme that accentuates volumes, textures, and pathways, guiding the gaze and enriching the dialogue between architecture and landscape. Inside, versatile solutions such as modular linear systems and programmed lighting scenes provide flexibility to adjust light intensity — supporting both focus and productivity, as well as warm, inviting atmospheres for informal gatherings. In the work areas, uniform lighting and glare control ensure visual comfort and efficiency, while wall sconces and adjustable projectors add layers of light that highlight decorative details and reinforce each space’s identity. At night, exterior lighting reveals the lush vegetation and the seamless integration of spaces, offering a sophisticated sensory experience that unites aesthetics, functionality, and well-being.
