Entry Description

Transurban’s Sydney Head Office presents as a vibrant and new-age work environment for the public transport infrastructure firm. The client’s vision was for a series of spaces which reflect their position as the most technically advanced private infrastructure operator.
All floors experience significant natural light during the afternoon, creating a challenging environment for illumination as the workspaces and client function areas transition into night. The lighting design looked to capitalise on the generous ceiling heights to sculpt a series of macro-scaled light ‘objects’ that present as lanterns on the arrival floor.
Lighting is stitched throughout the combination of refined and raw interior elements to provide a luminous back-drop to the double-height glazed western elevation. The entire space is tuned to morph throughout the day through a series of synchronised colour temperatures and balanced intensities, with Morning / Midday / Afternoon / Night / Late-Night settings driven by the 365-day timeclock. The design brings the outside in with cool white illumination, embracing natural light from the full-height glazing to the adjacent terrace overlooking George Street to the West.
Moving to the night scene, the ‘lanterns’ and secondary layers of light transition into a softer and warmer 2700K, with accent lighting to create drama for a more hospitality character.
