Entry Description

This project features an interior lighting design for the showroom and office of a lighting brand located along a major street. The concept aims to create a calming and inviting atmosphere that resonates not only with visitors and workers but also with passersby, making the lighting an integral part of the cityscape.
Throughout the showroom, indirect lighting is seamlessly integrated into curtains that envelop the space. A blue-toned color scheme—chosen as the complementary color to the warm orange hue of the lighting fixtures on display—serves as a subtle backdrop that enhances and frames the showroom exhibits. Special attention was given to the curtain materials: two layers of high-quality fabrics with partial light transmittance were selected, balancing transparency and diffusion. This creates an enchanting effect where the displayed lighting fixtures softly glow behind the curtains, while the colored indirect light beautifully washes over their surface.
The colored indirect lighting is controlled via a scheduling system, changing gently throughout the day. For example, refreshing white light brightens the space in the morning, while in the evening, a blend of sunset orange and deep night blue evokes the natural transition from day to night. Additionally, motion sensors trigger a welcoming lighting sequence when clients visit, creating a unique welcome upon arrival.
Sustainability Approach

The showroom and office are fully controlled via a DALI-based scheduling system. Outside of business hours, the showroom’s displayed lighting automatically switches off, while the curtain color lighting is adjusted to appropriate brightness according to the time of day, preventing unnecessary energy use. The lighting plan also takes into account the surrounding cityscape, creating a comfortable and harmonious atmosphere that complements the streetscape. In the office, the design prioritizes both functionality and comfort for workers. Glare-controlled pendant lights are installed, and a task-and-ambient lighting approach is applied: circulation areas are kept relatively dim, while desk surfaces receive sufficient illumination. Ambient lighting is further optimized through automatic dimming, contributing to significant energy savings.
