Entry DescriptionThe lighting concept consists of transparent, grape-shaped pendant lights that bathe the market arcade in warm and inviting light. This lighting plan was carefully crafted to highlight the architectural features of the hall and provides a welcoming environment for visitors.
The glass globes pendant lights, arranged in groups of eight between the arches, are designed to blend harmoniously into the overall scene during the day. Their transparency makes them almost invisible, but at dusk, they come into full effect. The hall transforms into a magically lit space that enhances the mystical atmosphere. It becomes a place for comfort, exchange, and communication. This nocturnal transformation is supported by the targeted illumination of the paved floor and the smooth ceiling. The glare-free light sources accentuate the structure of the paving stones. The reflections on the surrounding buildings glass windows, enlarge visually the space creating a larger even an almost infinite expanse. With such a surreal effect a visual connection with the buildings towards the streets is established and the market hall blends in architecturally with the adjoining town houses.
The market hall of Burgdorf is more than just a space, it is a living symbol in the heart of the city that uplifts the spirits of its people through its distinctive lighting concept.
Sustainability ApproachThe integrated lighting control system allows for various scenarios to be created, tailored to the needs of different events. For example, late at night, the main passage is normally illuminated, while the individual sections into the room are only minimally lit to give depth to the space. Reduced lighting maintains the mood, casts minimal light outdoors and is thus considerate of the surrounding environment. Besides, the specially designed strain reliefs integrated into the ceiling construction ensure that the lights seamlessly blend into the overall appearance of the hall.
The lighting scheme consists of four scenarios which are related with the ambiance, functionality and energy reduction. Those consist in full use of the luminaires for events, market, and other traditional activities and several din profiles accordingly to low usage of the space.
