Entry DescriptionLighting is a predictable scenario of human behavior in space and time. The choice of the artistic language of light depends on the content and scenario of sensations (their quality, intensity, duration).
The multimedia project “I am a shadow from someone’s shadow” within the framework of the festival “Friends of St. Petersburg” on the territory of the Mikhailovsky Castle became an example of high-quality organization of work with environmental identity, where the surrounding reality was recreated, forming a new system of images of the object.
The project has several lines - the main line is the Shadow of Peter on the building of the Mikhailovsky Castle. If we talk about semantics, then all the residents of St. Petersburg “live” under the shadow of this person, and what can we say about his grandson - Pavel.
From this image, the parameters of the brightness scenario of light and dark adaptation were taken in two diagonals: from the entrance (through the shadow), the arch and the culmination - this is the courtyard, and the perpendicular line.
Time slots for creating sensations through light adaptation (15 minutes), dark adaptation (7 minutes) were used. The use of colored light and diffuse light transformation effects occurs only within the framework of the audiovisual performance in the courtyard.
Sustainability ApproachThe project was created for a particular event, just for 2 days. Only used lighting fixtures were applied and soft mounting options, not influencing the environment. Glare was minimized by using additional diffusers and accessories.
