Entry Description

Five boys who once formed a band in a small room went on to write song after song that accompanied us through youth, love, and life. As Mayday celebrates their 25th anniversary, they launched the 25th Anniversary World Tour.
The stage design features 13,000 custom 360-degree curved LED panels forming a spherical display. The lighting structure breaks away from traditional rigging, with circular and arched frameworks supporting 1,600 lights arranged beyond linear constraints to create layered, dynamic visuals.
Lighting design centers on circular and radial flows, complementing the 3D LED sphere. Lights are arranged in arcs to form melodic trails—sometimes straight like memory traces, sometimes radiating like halos embracing the audience—seamlessly connecting stage and venue.
As the show unfolds, climactic moments burst with rapid programming and wide-spanning intersecting beams, immersing the arena in a dazzling tunnel of time. Lighting paths extend from the main stage to the stands and even to the venue’s top structures, making the space pulse with rhythm.
Like ripples of memory, the lighting gently moves outward from the stage, sketching a visual journey in sync with the music. This is a show for everyone who grew up with Mayday and was accompanied by them—where lighting doesn’t just illuminate, it brings each person back to a shared moment of resonance.
Sustainability Approach

We used energy-efficient, reusable LED fixtures to reduce power consumption and heat emission without compromising visual impact. To minimize on-site energy use, we utilized lighting visualization software to pre-program effects in a virtual environment, streamlining setup time and reducing carbon output.
By optimizing fixture quantity and placement, we achieved rich visual expression with minimal resource use. Through these actions, we not only reduced the event’s environmental footprint but also demonstrated how stage lighting can be both impactful and sustainable.
