Entry Description

As Rolling Stone described it, “At the end, the rain and the fireworks exploded in the sky above the Wuhlheide — a celebration of twenty years that felt entirely alive.”

Tokio Hotel’s 20th-anniversary concert at Berlin’s Wuhlheide was a large-scale exploration of presence, transformation, and memory. Conceived as a living visual organism, the show dissolved the boundaries between concert, installation, and collective ritual. Light and video became equal voices within a temporary architecture of sound, weather, and emotion — a choreography of atmosphere where beams rose into the forest canopy, drones traced constellations, and color shifted through mist and rain.

The Lighting Designer acted as the connective eye — composing from within rather than directing from hierarchy. Together with the band and a network of creatives, he shaped a show that was entirely alive: a dialogue between sound, light, space, and emotion. The performance became a breathing entity — a luminous intersection of time, people, and sound — a collective heartbeat made visible. Built with a sustainable approach, using local partners and reimagined materials, it proved that innovation and responsibility can share the same stage.
Sustainability Approach

Sustainability was an intrinsic layer of the concept. The production relied on local and German suppliers, re-used and modified existing systems, and avoided disposable construction. What emerged was something both new and responsible — a work of scale without waste, proving that innovation in live design can coexist with ecological mindfulness.
