Entry Description

The 2024 Golden Melody Awards lighting design revolved around the concepts of “Exploration” and “Excavation,” symbolizing the deep pursuit of music and the evolution of time.

The stage featured a perspective-based geometric structure, where interlacing angular planes and aerial panels created a forward-thrusting sense of motion — echoing the year’s theme, “Future-ing,” representing the continuous fusion of music and technology. Adjustable square banners suspended above the stage could move vertically and recombine freely, producing a layered visual effect reminiscent of album sleeves — a metaphor for the evolution of music formats from vinyl and cassette to CD. Through variations in light intensity, rhythm, and angle, the designer transformed these symbolic ideas into a expression of light and shadow, making the stage feel as if it were flowing along a timeline.

Aesthetically and technically, the design merged sensory artistry with technological sophistication. The extended side platforms and LED-embedded L-shaped pillars became highlights of the composition, expanding the performers’ spatial reach and intensifying the visual impact.
Sustainability Approach

The main structure, composed of lightweight aluminum alloy and modular framing, allowed both the lighting and banner systems to be assembled, dismantled, and reused for future events. Energy-efficient LEDs and programmable controls drastically reduced power consumption without compromising brightness or color depth. Guided by the philosophy of “subtractive construction,” the team shortened installation time and minimized disposable material use.

All lighting consoles were digitally integrated, enabling centralized management and further improving energy efficiency. Beyond hardware innovation, the design extended sustainability into manpower and logistics management—achieving maximum visual power with minimal energy use, establishing a new green benchmark for large-scale live events.
