Entry DescriptionThis lighting concept for Nikolay Polissky's "Suprematist Forest" transforms the static art object into a dynamic, living experience. The core artistic intention was to make the art object appear completely different at night than during the day—mysterious and mystical, perceived differently from every viewing angle.
The design is based on a multi-level system. The primary lighting uses a warm color temperature, creating a soft, natural glow that complements the wooden structures. This light is strategically delivered by spotlights with zoom optics, placed from lower, upper, and internal tiers.
Lighting Scenarios:
Static Illumination: All warm fixtures are activated, revealing the full scale and complex colored structure of the installation. The internal cube glows softly, hinting at the depth within.
The Black Cube: The internal lighting intensifies and shifts, causing the cube to radiate from within with multiple colors. This reveals the Suprematist idea of black as a synthesis of all colors, creating a vibrant core against the warm-lit periphery.
Dynamic Organism: A unique rotating platform with four 4000K cool-temperature fixtures activates. The internal cube lighting is deactivated, and the moving cold light contrasts with the static warm glow on the trees, creating a sense of a mysterious, living entity and an ever-changing play of shadows.
Sustainability ApproachA focus on energy-efficient LED technology and careful integration into the natural landscape without light pollution demonstrates a responsible approach to lighting design.
