Entry Description

Qur'an Gate or Shiraz Gate is a historic gate in the north of Shiraz, Iran. It is located at the northeastern entrance of the city, on the way to Marvdasht and Isfahan city, between Baba Kouhi and Chehel Maqam Mountains near Allahu Akbar gorge. The Gate was first built during the reign of 'Adud ad-Dawla. By the time of the Zand dynasty, it had sustained a lot of damage, so it was restored and a small room on top was added, in which were kept hand-written qurans by Sultan Ibrahim Bin Shahrukh Gurekani.
Shiraz Municipality asked me to do the lighting design and field studies of this project,So I did the lighting design of this building based on field studies conducted despite many challenges such as light pollution and the visual chaos around the building and very limited municipal budget. Use 6500k CCT for illumination under the arches and 3500k for the walls of the building to create color and light contrast on the building and between the building and its surrounding area. All of the light sources are high efficiency led lights from Osram,Ledil and Tridonic.the book is kept in the upper part of the building,Ihave tried to emphasize this part with increasing levels of luminosity.
