Entry Description

Centered around the theme “City of Science · Light Beyond the Horizon”and following the logic of life sciences, the event integrates nature, culture, and science through site-specific creations. By embracing the essence of a natural perspective and using art to present science, it invites more public to experience an artistic journey through science in Hongqiao Park.

DNA is the essence of life and the identification code of species. "Evolution I ," as one of the works featured in Glow Shenzhen2023, draws inspiration from "DNA." It utilizes the unique reflections between Hongqiao and the lake to create a local artistic canvas, showcasing the scientific beauty of life's essence from a microscopic perspective in the macro world of nature. Through this installation, the artist aims to purely represent the fundamental structure of life, consciously restraining personal artistic emotions.

The DNA double-helix structure winds around the Hongqiao bridge, resembling a life form growing on the bridge, with flowing lights that gather and separate along the smooth curves, creating a strong sense of dynamism. Laser beams reveal the original double-helix form in the mist, offering a subtle and elusive visual experience. This dreamlike fusion of science and art invites the audience to delve deeper into reflections and imaginations about the essence of life.
Sustainability Approach

The overall dimensions of the work Evolution I span 136 meters, making it the largest piece ever featured in this activity. The Evolution I double helix round tubes are made of Q345B seamless steel pipes and Q345B connecting plates, with high-strength friction-type bolted connections. The surface is coated with two layers of finish paint over two layers of anti-rust paint to ensure the structural strength and durability of the installation. The two double helix tubes use LED silicone light strips (8W/m, RGBW with W=4000K) designed in a custom lighting fixture shape, fixed along the entire length in slots on both sides of the double helix. Both the top of the bridge and the underside feature 8-milliwatt monochromatic mini laser lights, paired with smoke machines on both sides, to create an integrated artistic lighting effect.,forming a unique landscape feature in Hongqiao Park.
