Entry Description

Nestled in the heart of Reykjavík, Freyjugarður is a public garden dedicated to the voices of Icelandic female poets. The park features lyrical inscriptions on bookstands from five contemporary poets.
As twilight descends, bollards guide visitors along the pathway, welcoming them into this serene space.
All lighting is thoughtfully set to 2700K, ensuring a gentle ambiance that minimizes distraction and light pollution. Subtle pools of light provide safety and warmth.
A decorative lantern in the corner creates a comforting space for reading, while RGBW floodlights creates a scenic canopy of leaves above it, shifting colors to mark special occasions.
A stunning mural artwork 'Yggdrasil' by Narfi Þorsteinsson transforms at dusk, when a gobo projector frames the centerpiece and raises heads of passers-by for a spectacular discovery.

Sustainability Approach

The lighting controls have been designed in sync with the specific Icelandic lighting conditions to provide enough lighting levels for safety, but save energy by automatic switching based on astronomical clock. The lighting colour temperature has been set to 2700 K and the bollards light distribution is designed to avoid light pollution.
