Entry Description

"Natural Wonderland," a new permanent exhibition at the National Museum of Natural Science in Taichung, Taiwan. The spatial tonality of the exhibition is a clean and concise display style, with a white display panel as the background of showcases, allowing viewers to focus on the various details of the displayed specimens and models.

The lighting design concept is to create illuminated display cases that highlights the characteristics of animal specimens and models. Using 4000K led strip to create illuminated panel above the showcases provides uniform lighting for displaying specimens, presented like they were under natural daylight. In addition, 36 degree lights are to emphasize specimens’ expressions and postures, and 12 degree lights are to accent feather and fur details of specimens. This way it creates abundant lighting layers for display cases, so the illuminated display cases can become the focal point of the exhibition space.

Lighting design for an exhibition space is not just about lighting up the space evenly, but to tell a story through the lights. Together with the exhibition designers and curators, our goal is to provide a high quality lighting environment for every visitor who comes to visit.
