Entry Description

300 Hertz is a reversible bedside lamp designed to create different lighting atmospheres. It offers three lighting configurations, ranging from the most to the diffuse to the most focused. The lampshade's patterns are directly inspired by cymatics, a technique that uses sound vibrations to generate visual shapes that vary according to frequency. Viewed from above, the lamp represents the 300 Hertz frequency. Crafted from ceramic, each lamp is unique due to the variations in the glaze that occur under heat, reaching up to 1300°C.

300 Hertz is currently being produced in a ceramic workshop in Brussels.

Sustainability Approach

The use of clay, a natural material, combined with a raw form, highlights the lamp's simplicity. Built to last, its design consists of only three elements in addition to the electrical components: the base, the cone, and the lampshade. Each piece is independent, with an intuitive assembly, and all parts are easily accessible and replaceable throughout the lamp's lifespan. By using the different possible configurations, the user gains a tangible and intuitive control over the lighting intensity.
