Entry DescriptionView is an ambient light that displays the day's temperature, designed to blend seamlessly into your space. Adaptable in design, View scales from a prominent wall feature to a subtle desk accessory.
Through interviews and market research, the first thing people do when they wake up is look outside. Through this interaction and taking inspiration from window panels, each light panel signifies an hour, with an ESP32 Feather Board enabling Wi-Fi connectivity to display real-time weather updates. The furthest left panel shows the current hour, with color transitions from orange to blue depicting warm to cool temperatures, respectively.
View is more than a light; it is a fusion of form, function, and foresight, poised to illuminate and inform, making it an essential addition to the modern minimalist’s space.
Sustainability ApproachIn an time where sustainability is more important than ever, I designed this project with a focus on durability and longevity. The simplistic form of ‘View’ ensures its versatility, eliminating concerns about its adaptability to new spaces.
A significant aspect of this design is the transition to LED lights, a game-changer in lighting design due to their efficiency and lifespan compared to traditional lighting sources.
Furthermore, the design incorporates easily accessible internal parts. The use of screws allows users to replace parts as needed, and fasteners can be effortlessly removed. This facilitates the recycling and repurposing of the frame and hardwood, reinforcing the project’s commitment to sustainable practices.
